Scopus, Akelia To Develop IRD Compliant With DVB-S2 Standard

By Staff Writer | June 19, 2003

Scopus Network Technologies, an Israeli supplier of digital broadcasting platforms to the cable and satellite markets, and Akelia Wireless, a UK-based developer of products for wireless communications applications in the satellite and terrestrial sectors, are cooperating to develop an integrated receiver decoder (IRD). The decoder would be compliant with emerging DVB-S2 (digital video broadcasting – satellite) standards.

The joint development project is being partially funded by Britech, the British-Israel Technology Foundation. The Scopus and Akelia IRD would enable broadcasters to more fully exploit available satellite bandwidth.
