Italian service provider Telespazio has a new CEO. The company’s board of directors appointed Gabriele Pieralli as CEO on April 16, Telespazio announced.

Pieralli has been Telespazio COO since June 2023. He is the former CEO of Sirio Panel, which was later incorporated into Leonardo. He held leadership positions at Leonardo and was named managing director of the Leonardo Electronics Division in 2021. He currently chairs the board of directors of Thales Alenia Space Italia.

“During the last 10 months I served as COO, I had the pleasure of working with people whose enthusiasm, competences and passion make Telespazio one of the European leaders in the space sector,” Pieralli said in a post on LinkedIn. “Telespazio faces great opportunities ahead, as the space sector with the forthcoming exploration, navigation, and Earth observation programs is more vital than ever.”

Pieralli replaces former CEO Luigi Pasquali, who served as CEO for more than 10 years, since 2013.

“During these years, Telespazio has achieved significant results while growing in Italy as well as in Europe and South America,” Pasquail wrote on LinkedIn. “Now I am stepping down, handing over the company to Gabriele Pieralli who, I am sure, will drive Telespazio to new successes and achievements on a global scale.”

Telespazio is a joint venture of Leonardo and Thales.
