APT Satellite Returns To Profit

[Satellite Today – 4-9-08] APT Satellite Holdings Ltd. (APT Satellite) reported a strong increase in profits and a minor increase in revenues for 2007, the company announced April 8.
    The satellite operator had full-year revenues in 2007 of HK$451.6 million ($57.98 million). In terms of profits for the year, APT reported profits of HK$5.6 ($716,475). In 2006, the operator suffered a loss of close to HK$80 million ($10.2 million).
    APT Satellite provides satellite capacity, satellite communication services and TV broadcasting services to broadcasters and telcos in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the United States. At the end of 2007, APT TV, a wholly owned subsidiary of APT Satellite, uplinked and broadcasted up to 72 satellite TV channels for broadcasters in the Asia Pacific region, representing an increase of approximately 6 percent as compared to the same period in 2006.
