Satellite communications provider NSSLGlobal has launched the Cruise Control+ virtual platform as a value-added service for its maritime customers. The virtual platform is designed to provide maritime companies with a secure, integrated solution for managing all aspects of voice and data communications, as well as Information Technology (IT) services, on board vessels.

NSSLGlobal said the Cruise Control+ managed service delivery feature removes the need for customers to manage operating systems or applications on board, freeing up their time to focus on vessel priorities. The platform also aims to enable enhanced levels of crew services, including crew Unite, the NSSLGlobal welfare internet portal, and CrewVision, a crew entertainment service that provides news, high definition films, sports and TV programs, all without affecting the vessel’s bandwidth.

“Our new virtualized platform represents a key strategic milestone for NSSLGlobal, as we’re able to offer a cost-effective, single-server solution for seamless management of communication and IT services to our maritime customers around the globe,” NSSLGlobal Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sally-Anne Ray said in a statement.
