Polsat Enters Telecoms Market

      [08/24/07– Satellite Today] Cyfrowy Polsat, the Polish direct-to-home (DTH) operator, is the latest operator to diversify its product offering by entering the telecoms market.

      The operator is launching mobile telephony services under the brand Halo Polsat tihis fall, Polsat announced Aug. 23.

      Polsat will use a mobile virtual network operator model as the basis for its services and use its own billing system. Polsat plans to offer pre-paid and subscription packages and initially is targeting its DTH subscriber base for services. The operator has around 1.5 million subscribing households and believes that target market is 4.5 million people.
