Norsat Receives U.S. Patent For GlobeTrekker

Norsat International Inc. has been granted a U.S. patent for its GlobeTrekker portable satellite communications unit, the company announced July 16.
The patent, “Portable High-speed and Broadcast-quality Video Terminal for Terrestrial and Satellite Communications,” covers the design of a high-performance portable microwave communication unit consisting of a directional antenna, radio frequency transceiver and high-speed data/video-processing unit. It is Norsat’s second patent, and the company has four more pending.
GlobeTrekker is designed to provide terrestrial point-to-point communications or serve as a ground station in a satellite communication system.
