Satellite Deal Of The Day

By Staff Writer | October 21, 2004
      • Bedminster, N.J.-based Loral Skynet signed an agreement with Hawaii Pacific Teleport (HPT), a provider of teleport services between North America and Asia, to use Loral’s recently launched Telstar 18 satellite. Aside from HPT’s regular digital and analog turnaround services, the teleport plans to use Telstar 18 for its public switched videophone network (PSVN) to provide low-cost videoconferencing services throughout Asia for one new customer, he added. The broad reach and power of Telstar 18 make it an ideal satellite to offer customers feeds coming into or out of Asia, said Vince Waterson, vice president of business development at Hawaii Pacific Teleport. Financial terms were not disclosed.
