Sky Italia To Deploy OpenTV Middleware

OpenTV [OPTV] officials today said Sky Italia will deploy OpenTV’s middleware, based on a multi-year agreement signed by the two companies. Sky Italia provides digital satellite services to subscribers in Italy. The OpenTV middleware product was custom-built for Sky Italia, and it already has been deployed in more than 800,000 existing Sky Italia set-top boxes; it will be installed in 1.4 million additional boxes under the terms of the new contract. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
