Google Explores Using Light Beams to Connect Rural India

While Google has become known for its high speed fiber, the company has also expressed interest in doing away with cables altogether. In India, Google subsidiary X has partnered with a local telecom operator to use Free Space Optical Communications (FSOC) to provide internet to rural communities in the region.
