The Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) has awarded Elbit Systems a contract to provide dozens of its Satellite-On-the-Move (SOTM) systems. According to Elbit Systems, the contract is an amount that is not material to the company and will be performed over a two-year period.

Elbit’s Elsat 2100 SOTM family of systems allows high data rate broadband capabilities to be available to land-based vehicles on the move. According to the company, the systems are unique in their small footprint and tracking capabilities, providing communication even in difficult terrain. The solutions leverage various communications satellites to enable communications anywhere and at any time.

“The Israeli Defense Forces is an innovative technologically advanced military,” said Yehuda Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems’ land and Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) division. “The modern battlefield requires very reliable capabilities of high rate data transfer anytime, anywhere, and our SOTM communication solution meets this requirement.”
