[Via Satellite 01-21-2015] Advantech Wireless has received orders for its redundant/phase 250W/500W Extended Ku-Band SapphireBlu Gallium Nitride (GaN) based Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) solution totaling more than $1 million. The orders are for customers in the Satellite News-Gathering (SNG) industry.

The extended Ku-band SapphireBlu GaN based SSPA systems are designed to operate as 1:1 redundant 250W, and can be switched to phase combined mode to deliver 500W of RF power when needed. The devices include an L-band interface, provide very high frequency accuracy, allow high order modulation schemes as per the Digital Video Broadcasting Second Generation X (DVB-S2X) satellite standard, and do not need field adjustment or tuning.
