[Via Satellite 04-10-2014] Embrionix has selected MACOM 12G- Serial Digital Interface (SDI) devices for the company’s new 12G-SDI coaxial Video Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) family. 12G-SDI is required to support 4K resolutions at 60 frames per second over a single optical fiber. With dual links, 4K resolutions at 120 frames per second can be supported.

“Today, 4K transport is commonly done by combining multiple HD or 3G signals, for example 4 x 3G-SDI. The newly released 12G-SDI video SFP modules from Embrionix will allow customers to keep compatibility with previous standards while allowing them to instantly be capable of sending and receiving 4K60P signals over a single 12G-SDI link and 4K120P using a single SFP with dual 12G-SDI links,” said Renaud Lavoie, Ebrionix’s CEO.
