[Via Satellite 03-23-2015] The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has awarded Hughes Network Systems a two-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with two optional one-year extensions for data communications and networking equipment and related services.

Hughes is contracted to provide end-to-end solutions for localized video and text program content distribution. Digital signage includes electronic bulletin boards, breakroom TV, waiting room TV and interactive touchscreen kiosks. The contract includes rapid emergency messaging, and the Hughes Learning Portal eLearning solution.

“By leveraging digital signage in combination with learning management, the state can deliver educational and logistical information wherever it’s needed via a powerful video-based system. This contract vehicle also complements our existing contract with Texas DIR, on which we offer satellite broadband to rural schools and agencies,” said Tony Bardo, assistant vice president of Hughes Government Solutions.
