Harris Gets $9.7M Air Force Order

      Harris Corp. [NYSE:HRS], of Colorado Springs, Colo., has been awarded a $9.7 million order to supply two databases to the Mission Communications Operations and Maintenance (MCOM) program for the U.S. Air Force’s satellite communications system. The MCOM contract’s total potential value for Harris could reach $365 million by 2009.

      The MCOM program, awarded to Harris in July 2002 under a one-year contract with six, one-year renewal options, provides operations and maintenance services for the U.S. Air Force Satellite Control Network’s communications functions. Under the original $43 million MCOM contract, Harris provides communications support services, including site integration, scheduling, maintenance of technical drawings, database applications programming, local area network/wide area network operations, help desk functions, and military satellite communications terminal operations.
