Teledyne to Develop MUSES Imagery Platform for NASA

[Satellite TODAY 06-18-12] Teledyne has been awarded a cooperative agreement by NASA to foster the commercial use of the International Space Station, the company announced June 15.
Teledyne subsidiary Teledyne Brown will develop the Multi-User System for Earth Sensing (MUSES) Earth-imaging platform as part of its new commercial space-based digital imaging business. Teledyne will operate, maintain, and sustain the MUSES and provide services to hosted instruments for the International Space Station.
The MUSES platform aims to host up to four Earth observation instruments with the ability to change, upgrade and robotically service those instruments. Teledyne expects to provide the first commercial imaging system on board the facility.
Teledyne Brown is finalizing the design of MUSES and will fabricate, assemble, test, integrate, and qualify the platform for delivery to NASA in late 2014. Launch of the MUSES system is scheduled to occur in early 2015.
