GeoEye NGA EnhanceView Business Yields Two New Contracts

[Satellite TODAY Insider 10-25-11] Geospatial information service provider GeoEye has received two contract awards from the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and Boeing, GeoEye announced Oct. 24.
The first contract will see GeoEye deliver enhanced value-added commercial imagery geo-intelligence (GEOINT) services to the NGA. The order, authorized under the EnhancedView award that GeoEye received from the NGA in August 2010, will be delivered across a large geographic area and distributed through the company’s Web-hosting server.
GeoEye delivered its initial EnhancedView Web-hosting capabilities to the NGA in July. The service provides users with password-protected, online access to unclassified, high-resolution imagery within hours of its collection and powered by GeoEye’s EyeQ online access platform. Recent commercial applications of the platform have combined GeoEye-1 and Ikonos satellite imagery and MJ Harden aerial imagery with data from commercial radar providers and the USDA National Agriculture Imagery Program.
The second award, issued by Boeing, subcontracts GeoEye to develop and deliver controlled image products to the NGA. GeoEye will supply imagery products from multiple satellite imagery sources, including its high-resolution satellites, to provide seamless imagery supporting command and control, mission planning and rehearsal for domestic and military operations. GeoEye said its subcontract with Boeing was expected earlier in the year.

These awards are a testament to the NGA’s commitment to serve its federal user community with easy access to the most precise and up-to-date imagery. We will continue to expand our on-demand access capabilities with near real-time, map-ready imagery and information services,” GeoEye’s Senior Director of Government Programs Chris Incardona said in a statement.
The financial value of each separate contract was not disclosed, however, GeoEye confirmed that the combined worth of both awards is more than $25 million.
