Inmarsat Selects Skyware Global to Manufacture Global Xpress Terminals

By Jeffrey Hill | September 13, 2012

Satcom terminal solutions provider Skyware Global has been selected by MSS operator Inmarsat to serve as one of three initial launch partners in providing land-based satellite terminals for its Global Xpress service, Skyware announced Sept. 10.
As one of the manufacturing partners for Inmarsat’s Global Xpress launch, Skyware Global will develop commercial land satellite VSAT terminals from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.
“Our focus on small, transportable terminals for media, oil and gas and tactical applications has positioned us well in an industry seeking a new generation of compact, easy-to-operate and lower-cost solutions for ‘fly-away’ and ‘man-pack’ terminals,” Skyware Global Vice President of Tactical Ground Systems David Geen said in a statement.
Inmarsat plans to introduce its Global Xpress service in 2014. The Ka-band satellite network aims to provide HDR bandwidth with high-speed uplink and downlink data rates across the globe.
