Foxtel Signs Key Content Deal With BBC

[Satellite News – 6-26-08] Foxtel, which has launched high-definition (HD) services in Australia, signed a significant new content deal with the BBC, Foxtel announced June 26.
    Under the agreement with BBC Worldwide, Foxtel’s direct-to-home subscriber base will have access an extensive range of BBC channels, including BBC HD, which will be launched in June. Two additional channels, BBC Knowledge and CBeebies, will be launched when Foxtel gains extra cable and satellite capacity in mid-2009.
    “The BBC is an iconic global brand and the world’s largest producer of quality television programming, and we are delighted BBC Worldwide has chosen Foxtel as its long-term Australian partner in subscription television,” Foxtel CEO Kim Williams said in a statement.
