Canal Satellite Reunion Uses Eutelsat Capacity For Pay-TV
[11-27-07 – Satellite Today] Eutelsat Communications has signed a multi-year contract to sell capacity on its W2 satellite to support the expansion of the Canal Satellite Reunion pay-TV platform, Eutelsat announced Nov. 27.
Canal Satellite Reunion, a subsidiary of Canal Overseas launched in 1998, now operates four transponders on Eutelsat’s W2 satellite and broadcasts more than 60 channels to homes in Indian Ocean islands equipped for direct-to-home reception.
"Since its launch nearly 10 years ago, we have closely accompanied Canal Overseas in the growth of digital satellite television in Reunion Island,” Olivier Milliès-Lacroix, Eutelsat’s commercial director, said in a statement. “We are very pleased that it is renewing its confidence with Eutelsat and expanding its programme distribution network with this new capacity. This agreement also further anchors W2 as a key video neighborhood in this region.”
