By Jeffrey Hill | May 31, 2012

[Satellite TODAY 05-31-12] Proteus has entered into a partnership with DigitalGlobe to provide bathymetric and seabed-mapping products derived from DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-2 satellite imagery, the companies announced May 30.

Proteus said the seabed surveys would be developed for environmental, oil and gas, marine biology and other coastal zone applications.
“The Proteus-DigitalGlobe relationship enables us to bring terrestrial and marine data products to the global market,” said David Critchley, Proteus CEO. “The Proteus technique generates highly accurate bathymetric and seabed surveys in the coastal zone from multi-spectral DigitalGlobe WorldView-2 imagery in a fraction of the time required for traditional methods and the cost of the satellite-derived surveys represents 5 percent to 10 percent of those other techniques.”
