The European Space Agency (ESA) and the Supervisory Authority of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GSA) have signed a cooperative agreement between the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) and Galileo program, the GSA announced May 21.

The agreement is intended to ensure the continuity of cooperation between the ESA and the European community in the implementation of the European global navigation satellite systems.

The agreement will facilitate activities including research and development plus the Galileo In Orbit Validation (IOV) phase, the integration of EGNOS into Galileo, EGNOS and Galileo certification and security activities, and the transfer of the ownership of satellites and other EGNOS and Galileo IOV assets from ESA to the GSA.
