[Via Satellite 05-09-2014] Telenor appointed Michael Patrick Foley as the new CEO of Telenor Pakistan. Foley has more than 30 years of sales, marketing and operational experience in the telecom and retail sectors. He will take over Telenor Pakistan during a time of growth for the company as it is set to develop its consumer Internet position with a recently granted 3G license.

“I look forward to taking on the exciting challenge of joining Telenor Pakistan at this important moment. [With] the country now firmly transition[ing] into a digital future, Telenor Pakistan is well positioned to provide both new and innovative data-based services as well as best-in-class voice and SMS,” said Foley. “The people of Pakistan should expect to see growth in Internet penetration during the years to come, to the benefit of individuals, the business community and the society at large.”

Telenor Pakistan has a customer base of 35 million and has become the second largest operator in the country since its launch in 2005.
