Avanti Rolls Out Pay-As-You-Go Hylas-1 Internet Service

Avanti Communications has launched its new Pay-As-You-Go high-speed Internet connection service across Europe with no monthly subscription fees.

Avanti will offer a high-bandwidth Ka-band service that covers the frequencies between 26.5 GHz and 40 GHz, while allowing its partners to re-sell satellite broadband services on a data usage basis, rather than through a monthly recurring charge. The company said its pricing model would be made available to new and existing shared bandwidth Virtual Network Operators (VNOs).

Avanti will deliver the new service through its Hylas-1 Ka-band satellite, which was launched in 2010.

C-Com Expands Russian Presence with New Moscow Service Center

C-Com Satellite Systems has opened its first service center in Russia in cooperation with Moscow-based integrator RuSat.

RuSat will operate the C-Com service center, which will provide local maintenance and support for C-Com’s iNetVu mobile antennas to Russian customers. RuSat technicians completed theoretical and practical training courses for professional troubleshooting and maintenance of the iNetVu systems.

Telespazio Inks $200 Million Italian Military Satellite Procurement Deal

Telespazio has been selected by the Italian Ministry of Defense as the prime contractor to produce a high-resolution Earth observation military satellite system for more than $200 million, its parent company Finmeccanica announced.

Telespazio has sub-contracted construction of the new OPTSAT-3000 satellite to Israel Aerospace Industries’ MBT Space division. The satellite is currently set for a delivery in 2015.

Telespazio will be responsible for supplying the entire system, including: the ground segment; launch services; placement in orbit; preparation and execution of operational and logistical activities; in-orbit testing; and commissioning.

Vislink Set to Debut MSAT Portable Data Terminal Antenna

Vislink will debut the broadcast version of its Advent Mantis MSAT portable data terminal antenna at the IBC trade show.

Vislink designed the MSAT terminal as a portable, easy-to-use and quick-to-deploy tri-band satellite antenna system. The antenna comes with either a 65-centimeter or 90-centimeter reflector as a standard feature and can be configured for Ka-, Ku- and X-band.

The unit’s power can be supplied either from main outlets or 12-36VDC supplies. The system is equipped with interchangeable modem options, but can also be specified to include an in-built Advent DVE encoder.
