US Army Awards Comtech Mobile Datacom $19.8 Million Contract

[Via Satellite 04-07-2015] Comtech Mobile Datacom, a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications, received a $19.8 million sustainment contract to support the U.S. Army‘s Force 21 Battle Command Brigade and Below – Blue-Force Tracking (BFT-1) program. The Army initiated the contract by exercising Option Year 1 of the company’s three-year BFT-1 sustainment contract and related BFT-1 intellectual property license agreement.

The BFT-1 program provides a battle command real-time situational awareness and control system. A total of $10 million of the $19.8 million is for the Army’s continued license of BFT-1 intellectual property. The remaining funding covers engineering services and satellite network operations. Comtech is paid on a cost-plus-fixed-price basis. The company anticipates additional funded orders for Option Year 1.
