The launch of Telesat’s Anik F2 satellite was delayed for a second time, with Mother Nature stepping in to keep the satellite grounded. The telecommunications satellite originally was scheduled to be delivered into orbit from Arianespace‘s Kourou, French Guiana, launch site July 12, but the launch was delayed due to a problem with the Ariane 5 launch vehicle. The satellite was returned to the launch pad for a July 15 launch, but a buildup of storm clouds prevented that launch from happening. Arianespace officials hope the third time is the charm, as the company prepares to launch the bird today. Arianespace did not release the details of when the launch window would be open but, as of our deadline, the satellite remained on the ground.
