Sea Launch Company LLC’s Odyssey Launch Platform and the Sea Launch Commander departed the Sea Launch Home Port in Long Beach, Calif., this week for an equatorial launch site in the Pacific Ocean to prepare for liftoff of the DirecTV 7S broadcast satellite. The DirecTV [DTV] spacecraft is scheduled for launch on May 4. The 7S satellite ultimately would be positioned in geosynchronous orbit at 119 degrees West longitude.
