[Via Satellite 10-23-2014] Iridium has signed an agreement to provide Machine-to-Machine (M2M) services to Trimble for its transportation and logistics business. The partnership helps Trimble expand coverage of assets beyond North America to include Europe and other parts of the world.

Iridium’s M2M business has swelled to comprise more than one-fifth the company’s commercial service revenue, growing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 36 percent since 2008. Two other Trimble companies, PeopleNet and Geotrac, have been long-time customers of Iridium.

“As we seek more ways to support companies’ success in the global economy and expand into regions where cellular coverage isn’t ubiquitous, it’s important that we ensure our customers are able to maximize the value our solutions provide. Their need for operational efficiencies has no boundaries,” said Ron Konezny, VP of global transportation and logistics at Trimble.
