[Satellite TODAY 07-27-12] Dubai-based Sky-Stream has leased capacity on two satellites operated by Eutelsat Communications to respond to connectivity demands from customers engaged in the marine and oil & gas sectors, Eutelsat announced July 26.

Sky-Stream contracted for a total of 70 MHz of bandwidth, which will be progressively deployed on the operator’s Eutelsat 3C and Eutelsat 10A satellites. Sky-Stream will use the new capacity to offer GSM backhaul, Internet access and on-demand video services to its maritime and oil & gas customers.
Eutelsat 3C will be used specifically to extend Sky-Stream’s current Middle East Ku-band coverage to the Mediterranean for the luxury yacht market. The broad C-band beam of Eutelsat 10A will be leveraged to service both maritime and energy sectors in the Middle East, across the African continent and in Atlantic waters.
“This is a strategic partnership for us,” Sky-Stream Managing Director Riyadh Al Adely said in a statement. “Adding the extensive reach of Eutelsat 10A to our existing C-band footprint equips us to support multinational operations across continents and to expand our service over the Atlantic. Eutelsat 3C is a great fit to our current resources for the luxury yacht market where we see tremendous potential for growth.”
