By Jeffrey Hill | September 28, 2011
[Satellite TODAY 09-28-11] Stratos Global has been selected by shipping company Reederei Claus-Peter Offen (CP Offen) to provide Inmarsat FleetBroadband airtime services for its entire fleet of 122 commercial vessels, Stratos announced Sept. 27.
CP Offen, based in Germany, has a fleet that includes 122 container vessels, tankers and bulkers. Stratos will fully integrate FleetBroadband with AmosConnect to improve management of all interoffice communications supporting the CP Offen fleet. The integrated Stratos offering also aims to improve crew welfare by deploying AmosConnect with Stratos ChatCards, which enable personnel at sea to stay in contact with family via voice and private email services.
“Moving to FleetBroadband from Stratos ensures our vessels can benefit from the most advanced business and crew applications, while meeting the growing demand for bandwidth, in a highly cost-effective manner. Stratos is providing excellent service and is acting as a true partner in this important technology conversion,” CP Offen Head of IT Ascan Roosen said in a statement.
Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
