Telespazio Signs Telecom Service Contracts with DRS Technologies

[Satellite Today 01-06-09] Telespazio has signed a pair of deals with DRS Technologies for satellite communications services, Telespazio announced Dec 29.
    Under the first contract, Telespazio will provide DRS with satellite capacity via the Italian Sicral military communications satellites, including Sicral 1B, the second satellite in the system, which is scheduled for launch in February. Telespazio will have direct access to a portion of the satellite’s transmission capacity. The deal will run for 12 years and worth about 30 million euros ($41.8 million).
    The second contract, worth 4 million euros ($5.6 million), involves the supply of satellite uplink transmission services via the Fucino Space Center for a period of 7 years.
DRS Technologies was acquired by Finmeccanica in October 2008.
