Vyoma signed a contract with Belgian small satellite manufacturer Aerospacelab for a second space situational awareness (SSA) satellite. The satellite is set for launch late 2025 at the earliest, according to a June 13 announcement.
Vyoma ordered its pilot satellite from EnduroSat in 2023. That satellite is set to launch in February 2025. The company plans for a 12-satellite constellation called Flamingo to collect low-latency SSA data in space.
Aerospacelab will build the satelilte based on its Versatile Satellite Platform-50 (VSP-50), which will host Vyoma’s optical payload. Aerospacelab will provide the manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing service for the mission. This includes integrating the satellite onto the launch vehicle and launch and early-orbit phase and commissioning once in orbit.
Aerospacelab recently broke ground on a new smallsat factory in Belgium. The company currently operates six VSP-150 satellites, including four that were launched on the SpaceX Transporter-10 mission.
