[Via Satellite 04-25-2014] Comtech’s Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data, received a $3.1 million order from the U.S. Army’s Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems (DCATS) for SLM 5650A Satellite Modems. The modems support data rates from 8 kbps to 155 Mbps and symbol rates from 32 ksps to 64 Msps.

The SLM 5650A modems provide standard MIL STD 188-144 (EIA 530/RS 422) and EIA 613 (HSSI) serial interfaces. They can be outfitted with a 4-port 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet Network Processor to support switching, routing and advanced quality of service protocols. They can also be integrated with the Vipersat Management System (VMS) to provide extensive network and capacity management.
