Online Social Networks Enter Mobile Video Market

[Satellite Today 12-04-08] MySpace Mobile has entered the mobile video market with the launch of a beta version of a streaming video application for mobile phones, the company announced Dec. 4.
    In November, Vodafone announced a deal with online social network Facebook for mobile phone activity. The platform is designed to make its social networking application work better on portable devices for operators. Vodafone also has started services in the United Kingdom and Germany and plans to expand the program. to Greece, Italy, Spain, Ireland and Portugal.
    Also in November, YouTube announced the launch of YouTube Live, which streams video channels via the Internet.
    All three announcements cite the economic downturn as an opportunity to establish its presence in a streaming mobile video market that includes Dish Network.
