LogicaCMG, New Skies Deliver Secure IP Services

LogicaCMG successfully demonstrated Friday its secure multicast system over a live satellite network using New Skies’ [NYSE: NSK] IPsys service. The system employs new security mechanisms to improve the flexibility of satellite broadcast service provision.

LogicaCMG said that subscribers using the system will benefit from greater control over service compared to traditional satellite broadcast systems such as DVB-S (digital video broadcast – satellite). By creating their own service package from a range of multicast services supported by the broadcaster, the subscriber will only be charged for the content delivered. LogicaCMG’s product works by securing transmission at the IP layer, enabling a mix of services (video, audio, Internet or business applications) to be delivered over a single satellite channel.
