Galileo’s Implementation Set to Boost European GPS Markets

By Staff Writer | December 17, 2003

Galileo is expected to bring strategic, commercial and economic benefits to the European markets for GPS and Galileo applications. Recent analysis by Frost & Sullivan pegs annual revenues at up to 515 million euros ($639 million) at 2001 prices by 2020.

Galileo has been positioned as a complement to the GPS system. A potential lack of policy coordination between the European Union and the United States, however, threatens to result in the regionalization of satellite navigation applications standards and inhibit the full development of GPS/Galileo applications markets, Frost & Sullivan warns.
