[Satellite Today 07-08-09] SkyVision has purchased an iDirect Series 15000 universal satellite hub to launch its Evolution network covering Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia with a single C-band satellite beam, SkyVision announced July 7.
The Evolution’s satellite IP service is based on DVB-S2 with adaptive coding and modulation and aims to enable SkyVision to dedicate additional bandwidth for enterprise customers seeking to connect remote offices to their headquarterson the SkyVision virtual private network (VPN) service.
“The launch of our SkyVision VPN service represents an important milestone in the steady economic advancement of emerging markets as we enable our enterprise customers to extend private networks into locations previously outside their reach. We chose iDirect for this partnership because of their experience offering the most common, accessible satellite IP platform that our customers require,” Mark Gazit, president and CEO of SkyVision, said in a statement.
