MSV Completes Nationwide SMART Coverage for Public Safety Departments

[Satellite Today 10-01-08] Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) completed its network of nine regionally managed Satellite Mutual Aid Radio Talkgroups (SMART) enabling interoperable communications among public safety organizations across the country and a number of U.S. territories, the company announced Oct. 1.
    MSV is launching the Northeast Satellite Mutual Aid Radio Talkgroup (NE-SMART) in conjunction with the Connecticut Department of Public Safety. The talkgroup will operate on the MSV satellite communications network.
    The Connecticut State Police will manage and approve NE-SMART participation by federal, state, local and tribal public safety agencies and appropriate private sector users with a public safety mission in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
