SIA: Commercial Satellite Revenues Rise 16 Percent In 2007

[Satellite Today – 6-11-08] Global revenues for the commercial satellite industry jumped 16 percent in 2007 to $123 billion, the Satellite Industry Association (SIA) announced June 11.
    Average annual growth has been 11.5 percent during the period from 2002-2007, according to SIA’s 2008 State of the Satellite Industry Report, which was compiled by Futron Corp.
    Satellite services revenues grew more than 18 percent, with satellite television contributing nearly three-quarters of the $73.9 billion in 2007 revenues. Launch services revenue grew to $3.2 billion in 2007, increasing nearly 19 percent from 2006, while equipment revenues improved 19 percent to $34.3 billion due to strong sales in consumer hardware.
