[Via Satellite 01-06-2015] MACOM announced a comprehensive new portfolio of passive components for DOCSIS 3.1 compliant Cable TV (CATV) and broadband Internet systems. This new product family, spanning upstream and downstream transformers/baluns, couplers and power dividers/combiners, forms a broad portfolio of passives specifically designed to comply with the DOCSIS 3.1 standard for high-bandwidth data transfer over existing Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) infrastructure.

These products have been specifically developed for the next generation of infrastructure head-end and access equipment to be deployed in the cable network plant. This new plant requires very high-performance actives and passives in order to deliver multi-gigabit service to subscribers. MACOM also offers passives optimized for DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 subscriber equipment such as set-top-boxes, home gateways and cable modems. Through extended bandwidths, and improved insertion loss, return loss, power handling, distortion and temperature stability, optimal system performance can be realized.
