[Via Satellite 01-30-2015] Comtech Xicom Technology, a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications, has received a $3.8 million follow-on order from a U.S.-based system integrator for Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs). These TWTAs are for a major U.S. Army program for transportable satellite communications (satcom) systems providing voice, data, video conferencing, Internet and high resolution video connectivity for deployed military forces.

The TWTAs are small and lightweight enough to be mounted directly at the feed of medium-sized antennas and are designed to operate over minus 40 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius. They also incorporate upconversion from L band for 1-2 GHz input operation and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based Ethernet monitor and control interfaces.
