EUROSPORT NEWS EXPANDS TO GERMANY

Eurosport News, the sister service of pan-European sports network Eurosport covering sports news, has become available to German households for the first time, albeit through an unconventional way of transmission.

The service forms part of the DSL broadband portal QURT created by internet service provider QSC, which was presented at the Streaming Media fair in Berlin last week. QURT offers a selection of TV channels on its portal, each of which uses a 1.5 MBit/s transmission rate to allow full-picture streaming. According to Olaf Melcher, the director Eurosport Network, the launch of Eurosport News on the QURT has “a special meaning”. Eurosport News is currently available in three language versions to viewers in 34 countries.
