[Via Satellite 09-22-2016] Airbus Defence and Space is constructing a new four-story, 4,200 square meter Integrated Technology Center (ITC) in Friedrichshafen, Germany for satellite manufacturing. The building will be an expansion of Hall 6, which is the company’s current satellite integration facility.

The new center will play a pivotal role in a future reorganization of work areas and processes at the site. The lakeside factory has continually expanded over its 60-year history, resulting in the distribution of laboratory and testing facilities across the entire site. The new building project will now allow these scattered facilities to be combined under one roof.

Airbus Defence and Space has begun demolishing existing low buildings to make space for new building work, set to commence in November. The company is investing 43 million euros ($48 million) in the new center, which is expected to begin operations in the summer of 2018.
