Gilat Receives VSAT Order to Support New SES Ka-band Service

Gilat Satellite Networks has received an order from European satellite broadband providers in support of SES Broadband Services‘ (SBBS) Ka-band consumer service rollout, Gilat announced Sept. 6.
   The initial order includes Gilat’s SkyEdge 2-c Aries VSAT and the delivery of several thousand self-install customer premise equipment (CPE) Kits. Gilat CEO Erez Antebi said that the Aries solution would enable European households to benefit from considerably faster speeds for satellite consumer services, enabling Internet, video and voice-over-IP services.
   “Aries was designed from the bottom up for the consumer market, with quick and intuitive self-installation features and automatic service activation,” Antebi said in a statement. “We are very excited to have received this order for our Ka-band terminals to support SBBS and look forward to a successful rollout. Ka-band offers unprecedented capabilities in the satellite industry — very high data rates at attractive prices."
