Vega Wins ESOC Frame Contract

      [Satellite TODAY 06-24-10] Finmeccanica subsidiary Vega won a frame contract on behalf of European Space Operations Center (ESOC) that enables Vega to bid for work, the company announced June 23rd.
          Under the contract, Vega can bid for work on ground segment infrastructure systems, mission specific data systems, simulators, flight dynamics, navigation, space debris and several other information technology domains, which ESOC estimates to be worth a total of 100 million euros ($122.9 million) over five years.
         “We are particularly delighted to have been selected. It is testament to the quality and experience of our staff and to our understanding of our client’s requirements and priorities. This contract consolidates our position as a leading provider of end-to-end ground segment systems. It will support our drive to further exploit ESA technologies in space and other markets,” Vega General Manager John Lewis said in a statement.
