GVF Partners With SIRG on Anti-Interference Initiatives
[Satellite TODAY 06-14-11] The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (SIRG) has teamed up with the Global VSAT Forum (GVF) to develop initiatives to combat satellite interference, the organizations announced June 14.
Both groups will lobby to address the cause of interference, as well as take measures to reduce occurrences through carrier IDs and promoting a system of type approval or system characterization.
GVF and SIRG will be co-presenting at the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC) summit. SIRG Executive Director Martin Coleman and GVF Secretary General David Hartshorn said they would also be campaigning heavily throughout the show, meeting with operators and equipment manufacturers and attending a number of conferences and meetings.
“Satellite operators, Earth station manufacturers and other industry leadership will meet to discuss measures to ensure that transmitting devices do not introduce unacceptable levels of interference,” the organizations said in a joint statement.
