[Satellite Today 10-09-09] Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co. Ltd. (AsiaSat) and Macau Special Administrative Region‟s public broadcaster, TDM, signed an agreement for television broadcasting service across more than 50 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, AsiaSat announced Oct. 8.

            TDM Satellite Channel, Macau, a new satellite TV channel from TDM, has begun free-to air-broadcasting via AsiaSat 5, which began operations in September.

            “The launch of TDM Satellite Channel, Macau on Asia’s newest satellite, AsiaSat 5, marks a major milestone in television broadcasting in Macau,” Manuel Gonçalves, CEO of TDM, said in a statement. In addition to TDM’ s programming, we

will bring to viewers a diverse range of television content through collaboration with Chinese  broadcasters and public broadcasters from Portuguese-speaking countries. Our objective is  to establish a cross-cultural platform for China, Portuguese-speaking community and  overseas Chinese.”
