[Satellite Today 07-15-09] Boeing Co. was awarded a contract from Intelsat to build four new satellites based on its new model, the 702B, Boeing announced July 14.
The 702B spacecraft operates in the medium-level power ranges, with 6 to 12 kilowatts of onboard power. The satellite’s design aims to provide a flexible and modular structure to maintain its onboard technologies.
Intelsat said the order would add and refresh capacity to their fleet. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
