[Satellite Today – 6-19-08] One of the Asia’s major telcos is getting set to launch a two-way broadband service in the region. Telekom Malaysia (TM), Malaysia’s biggest telco, and Numix Engineering, have contracted 5 MHz of transmission capacity on the NSS-6 satellite at 95° East to launch two-way Ku-band broadband services targeting Malaysia and other countries in South East Asia, SES New Skies said June 19.
Dato’ Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, Group CEO, TM commented, “This strategic collaboration will benefit the users of TM Internet services, as the VSAT Ku-band will offer affordable communication that is capable of providing voice, fax, data and high speed broadband connectivity nationwide, especially in remote areas not covered by TM’s fixed infrastructure.
