Telesat Canada Profits Rise 15 Percent in 2006

Telesat Canada reported profits rose 15 percent while revenues advanced 1 percent last year.
Telesat Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of BCE Inc., posted consolidated operating revenue of $479.0 million last year, represented a 1 percent increase from $474.7 million in 2005.
Net earnings applicable to common shares amounted to $102.5 million, 15 percent higher than the previous record of $88.9 million set in 2005.
The company also stated that Anik F3 is nearing launch, which will occur in the first half of this year.
