Control of Kazakhstan’s first communications and broadcast satellite, KazSat-1, was transferred Oct. 17 from manufacturer Khrunichev State Space Scientific and Production Center to customer KazSat JSC, according to Kazinform. The development of Kazsat-1 involved more than 15 international firms, including Boeing, Alcatel Alenia Spazio Italia and Com Dev. The satellite was placed into geostationary orbit June 18 from Baikonur Space Center by a Proton booster.
